HARRISBURG – A bipartisan group of PA state senators announced a Senate resolution recognizing May 2026 as Mammography Month in PA. Emphasizing the importance of early breast cancer detection, the lawmakers are partnering with the PA Breast Cancer Coalition to encourage women to schedule their mammograms. PA has laws to cover both breast cancer screenings and diagnostic breast imaging at no cost for individuals with state-regulated insurance. The American Cancer Society estimates that nearly 322,000 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer nationwide in 2026. In PA, an average of 38 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every day. Nearly one in four women aged 50 to 74 have not received a mammogram in the past two years, despite strong evidence that early detection drastically improves outcomes.
