LANCASTER – A York City man charged with firing gun during a Lancaster County road rage incident will have his case proceed to county court. 42-year-old Maurice Thomas waived his preliminary hearing on aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, and other charges. Thomas is accused of firing a handgun into the victim’s vehicle at the intersection of Sterling Place and Bloomingdale Avenue in Manheim Township on May 21. The victim had called 911 after a driver later identified as Thomas was driving aggressively and began following him for a little over a mile. When the victim turned onto Bloomingdale Avenue, he heard a single gunshot and saw Thomas speed away, later finding a bullet hole in the rear of his vehicle. Residential surveillance footage from the area purports to show Thomas following the victim for several blocks before the victim called 911. Police were able to identify Thomas as the driver when they identified his license plate. Thomas remains in Lancaster County Prison without bail.
