Stay Hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and sugary drinks as they can cause dehydration. Dress for the heat by wearing lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing. A hat and sunglasses can help protect you from the sun. Check on elderly neighbors, family, and friends, especially those without air conditioning. Heat can affect anyone. Stay in air-conditioned places when possible. Use fans, close blinds or curtains during the day, and open windows at night when it’s cooler. Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Make sure to take breaks and pace yourself.
