LANCASTER – A former medical doctor at Lancaster General Hospital was sentenced to three to nine years in state prison after he pleaded guilty this week to sending inappropriate messages to a 13-year-old girl, including images depicting child pornography. Judge Merrill Spahn sentenced Frank Yang Liu, 34, after he pleaded guilty April 21 to eight different felony offenses including possessing child pornography and soliciting minors online. Liu sent the inappropriate messages to the victim between August 2023 and June 2024 despite being aware of her young age.  In an interview with police Liu admitted to using social media to message what he described as “girl accounts” without his wife’s knowledge. Throughout their conversations Liu made several inappropriate comments to the victim, He also sent the victim nearly a dozen pornographic images. At one point in the conversation Liu asked the victim is she would be “up for meeting.” On another occasion, Liu asked the victim if she could “make content” with her friend.  Investigators began looking into Liu in March 2024 after an agent with the FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force identified him as having sent child pornography online.
