LANCASTER – PA voters had their say on a number of contested races in our region.
Republicans had a contested race for Lieutenant Governor as Jason Richey defeated John Ventre in that race. Richey will pair with GOP gubernatorial candidate Stacy Garrity to run against Democrat incumbent Gov. Josh Shapiro and Lt. Gov. Austin Davis.
Democrats in the 10th Congressional District selected Janelle Stelson as the winner of the race against Justin Douglas. Stelson will face incumbent Republican Congressman Scott Perry, who ran unopposed.
Contested PA House races: Republican candidate Nicky Woods has won her race against Danielle Lindemuth for the state House seat in the 98th District which is currently held by Rep. Tom Jones. A contested race in southern Lancaster County had Republican candidate Dave Nissley pulling out a win over Kelly Osborne for state representative in the 100th District as Rep. Bryan Cutler will be ending his term of office. A special election in the 196th House District to fill the seat of former York County Rep. Seth Grove, who stepped down earlier this year, had Republican George Margetas winning over Democrat Ron Ruman. In the 199th House District, Democrat Tawanda Stallworth won her race against Rick Christie and will face Republican incumbent Rep. Barb Gleim.
Checking some contested state Senate races: In the 34th District covering Perry County and parts of Cumberland & Dauphin Counties, Democrat Nathan Wood beat Richard Forsman in the race against incumbent Republican Sen. Greg Rothman, who ran unopposed. A contest in the 36th District in Lancaster County had Republican state Rep. Tom Jones defeating Jere Swarr vying for the seat currently held by Democrat Sen. James Malone, who ran unopposed. A contested race in the 48th Senatorial District in Lebanon County and parts of Berks and Lancaster Counties had Republican incumbent Sen. Chris Gebhard gaining a victory over Clovis Crane.
