WEST HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP – After a joint effort with the West Lampeter Township Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department and the Main Line Animal Rescue division of Pennsylvania’s SPCA on Wednesday of last week, 93 animals, including 76 dogs, were rescued from deplorable conditions in a West Hempfield Dwelling. The animals were in poor medical condition and were taken to the Rescue to receive care. Police officers that responded to this call were touched by the animals that they encountered and wanted to do something to help. They went on a shopping spree to acquire supplies to aid in their care while with the Main Line Animale Rescue. In the course of their shopping, they encountered several businesses that, upon learning of the mission, wanted to help. On Friday, during their day off, officers made a trip to the Main Line Animal Rescue to drop off the donations and visit the animals. Through their efforts, and the generous business donations, the officers donated two carloads of supplies, toys and treats.
