HARRISBURG – On a unanimous vote, the PA House approved a bill that would require all American flags purchased and displayed by the state to be made in America. Bill sponsor, Cambria County Rep. Frank Burns said he introduced House Bill 2003 because current law leaves open the possibility that state purchasing agents could order a flag made anywhere, and he wants to close that gap in the law to ensure support for domestic manufacturing. Burns said the American flag is the symbol of everything our country stands for: freedom, sacrifice, and patriotism. It only makes sense that the flag representing our nation should be made right here in America — not in another country. The bill now goes to the state Senate Government Committee for consideration.
