HARRISBURG – PA Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding is encouraging low-income seniors and families to take advantage of fresh healthy food from PA farms through the Farmers Market Nutrition Program. The program provides vouchers to eligible seniors and families to buy fresh, local fruit and vegetables at farmers markets and farm stands across the state. From June through September, participants in the WIC program and low-income seniors may request vouchers redeemable through the end of November for PA-grown fruit, vegetables, and fresh-cut herbs from more than 1,000 participating farmers at roadside stands and farm markets statewide. Vouchers are distributed through WIC clinics for women and families, and for seniors through Area Agencies on Aging.
