LANCASTER – Lancaster Police responded to an incident at a carnival event at Park City Mall on April 11. Upon arrival, officers encountered a significant number of unaccompanied juveniles and escalating disorderly behavior. The conditions in and around the event quickly became a public safety concern. Several police departments assisted in helping to restore order and ensure public safety. At no time did officers observe anyone in possession of a firearm, hear gunshots, or locate any evidence to substantiate those claims. As a result of the incident, two 13-year-old juveniles were taken into police custody and released back to their parents. Lancaster Police and Fire are currently in contact with Park City management regarding the carnival, which is scheduled to reopen today. Additional safety measures are being implemented, including a fenced perimeter around the event. Moving forward, any minors attending without a parent or responsible adult age 25 or older will be asked to leave.
