WASHINGTON, DC – PA U.S. Sen. John Fetterman joined some Senate Democrats in reintroducing legislation that would end the federal prohibition of marijuana by removing it from the list of federally controlled substances and empowering states to create their own laws. Fetterman said he’s always been “pro-weed” and believes it should be legal, safe, and regulated.. The proposal establishes a central location to regulate production, labeling, distribution, sales, and other manufacturing and retail elements of the marijuana industry and instructs the FDA to establish standards for labeling for marijuana products. It also requires the Department of Transportation to create standards for marijuana-impaired driving. The measure also transfers federal jurisdiction over marijuana to the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau.
