HARRISBURG – The PA Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Red Air Quality Alert for the region today. A Code Red Air Quality Alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region are unhealthful for the general population. Wildfire smoke from Canada and Minnesota is pushing into southern PA counties, creating Code Red concentrations of particulate matter. During Code Red Air Quality Alerts, all residents should consider limiting their outdoor activities and sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory illnesses should avoid long or intense outdoor activities and consider moving activities indoors.
