LANCASTER COUNTY – Lancaster County’s Cherry Hill Orchards got a visit from Gov. Josh Shapiro and PA Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding as they met with local growers who experienced significant crop loss following a devastating freeze in April. The governor is urging the federal government and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to expedite disaster assistance for PA farmers affected by the April freeze, including faster damage assessments and crop insurance payments. He is also calling for broader federal support to help growers recover financially and maintain long-term market stability. If USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins approves a disaster declaration, growers in the disaster area would be eligible for low-interest emergency loans.
