COLUMBIA -Lancaster County authorities conducted a warrant detail at a residence last Friday afternoon in the 300 block of Cherry Street in Columbia. 40-year-old Charles Harris, the subject of a weapons violation warrant, was located at a residence. Harris attempted to flee the residence and then retreated back inside. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department deployed a K-9 and Harris fired shots in the direction of officers and at the police dog. Neither the officers nor the police dog were injured. Officers set up a perimeter, secured the scene, and kept the subject inside until the arrival of the Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team. Officers convinced Harris to surrender and he was taken into custody. Charges for Friday’s incident are pending until the conclusion of an investigation.
