HARRISBURG – A state trooper has been charged, denied bail, and deemed “a danger to himself and others” after attempts to stalk and intimidate a witness in an active investigation. Attorney General Dave Sunday and Pennsylvania State Police charged 34-year-old trooper Christopher Young with felony intimidation of a witness and misdemeanor counts of stalking and loitering or prowling at night. The charges come as a result of an investigation that found Young had repeatedly called and texted a potential witness, as well as their parents, in an ongoing child abuse investigation in order to persuade the witness to not cooperate with the investigation. The situation came to a head on February 24th when the former trooper was found wielding a gun and a knife in a wooded area behind the home of the witness in Schuylkill County. The investigation that Young attempted to disrupt is still ongoing. Young began his career with the state police in Hamburg in 2017 but is now suspended without pay.
