COLUMBIA – A three-alarm fire in the first block of South 4th Street in Columbia, Lancaster County, kept firefighters busy. It occurred Saturday around 3:20 p.m. Units from Lancaster and York Counties responded to the scene, battling intense flames and heavy smoke. Authorities confirmed that at least three homes were destroyed or heavily damaged, with additional properties affected by heat and smoke. All residents were safely evacuated, though about eight individuals have been displaced and are now receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by a State Police Fire Marshal. The Borough of Columbia is encouraging residents, businesses, and the greater community to support those affected by the fire.
