BERKS COUNTY – A procession has been scheduled for this evening in honor of a Berks County police officer who died in the line of duty. Central Berks Regional Police Officer Kristen Yeager died Friday night in a crash while responding to call near the intersection of Manatawny and Shoemaker Roads in Earl Township. The procession will depart Reading Hospital at 8 p.m. tonight, travel Penn Avenue to Route 422 East, exit at Mt. Penn, North on East Neversink Road, West on Perkiomen Avenue, continuing on Howard Blvd to 22nd Street, and back onto Perkiomen Avenue to Lutz Funeral Home at 2100 Perkiomen Avenue in Mt. Penn Boro. For those not participating in the procession, several fire departments and emergency service agencies will be positioned along the route. On their Facebook page, Central Berks Police are asking all residents and businesses along the Route 422 and Perkiomen Avenue corridor to turn your lights blue, display blue ribbons, wear blue, and line the route as they bring Officer Yeager, home one final time.
