LANCASTER COUNTY – Charges have been filed after a Lancaster County pedestrian accident. At 9:28 p.m., on Wednesday, April 15, Manheim Township Police responded to the 1200 block of Lititz Pike for a person struck by a vehicle. An investigation determined that the vehicle driver, a 24-year-old woman from Columbia, had exited a private business and proceeded north on Lititz Pike in the left lane at about 25 mph. The pedestrian, a 21 year old Lancaster man, abruptly entered the roadway. The vehicle struck the pedestrian, causing serious injuries to the pedestrian and moderate damage to the vehicle. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The vehicle driver was not hurt. A witness to the event provided independent information to officers. The investigation revealed that the pedestrian caused the crash to occur. A citation for Pedestrians Crossing at Other Than Crosswalks was filed against the pedestrian. No charges were filed against the driver.
