HARRISBURG – Two bills protecting PA homeowners and home buyers have been approved by the PA Senate Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure Committee. Senate Bill 907 establishes statewide licensing and oversight for home inspectors in PA. As there is no current licensure requirement for home inspectors, many home buyers have faced serious financial and health consequences from inadequate inspections. The bill establishes clear professional standards and accountability within the home inspection industry. Senate Bill 1324 strengthens the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act to better protect homeowners from fraud and poor quality work by home improvement contractors. The legislation was developed in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection to provide more stringent requirements for contractors and additional safeguards for PA consumers. The bills now move to the full PA Senate for consideration.
