YORK COUNTY – PA State Police say a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel before striking a construction vehicle and killing three workers on the shoulder of Interstate 83 in York County in April. They say the 24-year-old driver from Roxbury, Massachusetts fell asleep about 8 miles south of Harrisburg on April 17. Investigators say the man was driving a box truck around 3:25 a.m. when it struck a construction vehicle in a work zone, then hit the three workers on the shoulder. All three victims were from PA. Killed were 24-year-old Jesse McKenzie of Rockwood; 24-year-old Philson Hinebaugh III of Johnstown; and 41-year-old Robert Hampe of Meyersdale. The driver was not injured. Authorities say a decision on whether to file charges in the case will be made once the investigation has been completed.
