LANCASTER – A Lancaster County jury convicted a Caernarvon Township man of raping a teenager decades ago following a five-day trial last week. The jury found 46-year-old Roberto Rosario of the 500 block of East Maple Street in Lancaster, guilty of three felony offenses. Rosario raped and brutally assaulted the then-16-year-old victim in December of 1997. According to the victim’s testimony, Rosario threatened to shoot her, claiming he had a gun, then began to physically attack her. The victim also stated that she fought back and tried to escape, but was stopped by Rosario from getting away from the attack. The assault only ended when another individual entered the hotel room. The now 44-year-old victim reached out to police again to discover the fate of the investigation into Rosario. Following the victim’s request, Lancaster City Police ultimately filed the charges against Rosario. The jury returned a guilty verdict after about three-and-a-half hours of deliberation. Rosario is scheduled to be sentenced after a pre-sentence investigation.
