DERRY TOWNSHIP – The Derry Township Police Department is aware of a scam involving an unknown person calling people and claiming to be Sergeant Anthony Clements of the Derry Township Police Department. This suspect has been requesting people pay off their warrants or fines from traffic tickets with electronic apps or gift cards. The Derry Township Police Department does not accept payments for traffic ticket fines, or warrants for the same, through any electronic apps such as Apple Pay, CashApp or gift cards. Should you receive a phone call from a person claiming to be a police officer, saying you have warrants or owe fine money, please gather the information that you are provided and contact your local police department directly at their publicly published phone number. They will be able to confirm the existence of fines or warrants for you.
