WEST DONEGAL TOWNSHIP – A Friday evening crash in West Donegal Township, Lancaster County, has claimed a life. Police responded shortly after 11:30 p.m. to the 700 block of Amosite Road for a reported vehicle crash into a tree with fire. Upon arrival, officers were unable to extinguish the fully engulfed fire to determine if the vehicle was occupied. After Elizabethtown Fire Department arrived, the fire was extinguished and a single occupant was discovered. However, due to the extensive fire damage, the body was unable to be identified. An investigation found that A Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on Amosite Road, crossed the oncoming lane, and struck the tree. Police believe excessive speed was a contributing factor.
