HARRISBURG – Legislation known as “Greg Moyer’s Law” has been signed into law as Act 17 of 2026. Senate Bill 375 was named for Greg Moyer, who tragically passed away from sudden cardiac arrest during a high school basketball game. The measure will require automated external defibrillators or AEDs to be present at all PIAA-sanctioned athletic events and practices. The law also requires schools to develop and rehearse emergency action plans for cardiac incidents. Sudden cardiac arrest remains the leading cause of death among young athletes and an immediate access to an AED can save lives. The new law ensures schools are better prepared to respond in an emergency and helps make these critical protections standard in every community. Rachel Moyer, Greg’s mother and a leading advocate for AED access in schools, praised the bill becoming law. She said, “This law honors my son Greg and ensures that his legacy will continue to save lives.”
