HARRISBURG – Gov. Josh Shapiro signed two bills into law that would impact motorcycles in PA. House Bill 2177, now Act 149 of 2024, will allow motorcycles to be inspected year round. Current law only permitted motorcycles to be safety inspected between the months of March and October. Motorcycle registration with PennDOT would continue to be tied to the month the vehicle is to be inspected. The second bill signed into law is Senate Bill 155, now Act 151, which adds motorcycles to be included in PA’s Lemon Law. Currently, only automobiles are covered under the Lemon Law. Protections for motorcycles under the measure would apply to defects that occur within a year following the actual delivery of the motorcycle to the purchaser.
