HARRISBURG – A resolution has been offered by Sen. Tracy Pennycuick of Berks & Montgomery Counties designating April 15, 2026, as “Purple Up! for Military Kids” Day and April 2026 as Month of the Military Child in PA. The measure is co-sponsored by every veteran in the PA Senate. The resolution is in recognition of military children and to show appreciation for the many sacrifices they make. On April 15th, individuals are encouraged to wear purple, which symbolizes all branches of the Armed Forces in support of military children and their families. Pennycuick, who is a veteran herself, says the sacrifice goes beyond the service member. In PA alone, over 37,000 children have at least one parent serving in the PA National Guard, reserves, or is active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces.
