HARRISBURG – A package of pro-abortion bills was approved by the PA House Judiciary Committee. House Bill 2005 would eliminate the 24 hour waiting period for abortion as well as the counseling requirements from the Abortion Control Act – meaning that women would no longer be told the risks of abortion and alternatives to abortion before an abortion takes place. House Bill 670 protects access to abortion facilities by criminalizing the obstruction of access, damage to, or interference with the operation of the facilities. House Bill 1957 proposes an amendment to the PA Constitution providing for personal reproductive liberty. House Bill 1640 would protect health care records related to reproductive services from disclosure in PA civil and criminal actions or investigations. House Bill 1641 instructs insurance companies to not take adverse action against health care providers that offer reproductive services to out-of-state residents. House Bill 1966 would prohibit PA courts from cooperating with out-of-state civil and criminal cases involving reproductive services and prevent officials from other states from arresting people in PA for abortion-related crimes.
