LEHIGH COUNTY – State Police in Lehigh County are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Saturday, January 24. Around 11:03 a.m., troopers responded to the 2800 block of Rockdale Road in North Whitehall Township for a disturbance involving a man with a gun. Upon arrival, they found a 27-year-old man from North Whitehall Township in a vehicle with a handgun. A PSP SERT Team also responded to the scene. Troopers tried to make contact with the man to peacefully exit the vehicle. During that time, the man discharged his gun, more than once, and pointed the gun at troopers multiple times. A SERT Team member fired his weapon and struck the man. He was treated at the scene and rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest where he later died. His identity has not been released. There were no injuries to law enforcement. The Lehigh Valley D.A.’s Office is assisting the investigation.
