HARRISBURG – Rep. Jamie Barton of Berks & Schuylkill Counties announced that he has been appointed Vice Chair of the PA House Appropriations Committee. He succeeds former Rep. Torren Ecker of Adams & Cumberland Counties, who is now serving as a judge. Barton said he’s honored to have been chosen for such an important role. He added, “I do my best to represent Berks and Schuylkill counties through the lens of fiscal responsibility, and I will continue to do so in the budget process, knowing it impacts each and every taxpayer in PA.” Barton’s new position will include playing a more active role in assisting Republican Chairman, Indiana County Rep. Jim Struzzi. The committee’s work will begin in earnest Monday, Feb. 23, the first day of three weeks’ worth of state budget hearings.
