LANCASTER – A Lancaster County man was sentenced to life in prison without parole plus 41 and a half to 85 years in prison after he was found guilty of killing his girlfriend, barricading himself inside his home, and firing at police. 40-year-old Miguel Rodriguez of East Hempfield Township shot and killed 33-year-old Nemesis Florentino in his home in the 2000 block of Swarr Run Road on Sept. 11, 2022. Police who responded tried to enter Rodriguez’s home and were met with gunfire. Rodriguez fired over 100 rounds, preventing first responders from potentially saving the victim’s life. The nearly five hour-long standoff ended when Rodriguez exited his home with a rifle which he pointed at police, resulting in an officer shooting him in the arm.
