LANCASTER COUNTY – A Dauphin County man charged with robbing a Lancaster County bank last year will have his case proceed to county court. 59-year-old Shannon Steckbeck of West Hanover Township waived his preliminary hearing on a single count of robbery. Steckbeck is accused of demanding employees give him money from the cash drawer of the Truist Bank in the 2600 block of North Reading Road in East Cocalico Township the afternoon of Nov. 14. A bank teller initially believed Steckbeck was joking until he stated it was a robbery and again demanded the money in the drawer. Steckbeck then fled the bank with cash. Eyewitnesses spotted a man matching the suspect’s description entering a car parked about a block away and then quickly leaving the area. Through the investigation, police identified Steckbeck as the suspect and determined that he was also a suspect in a separate bank robbery in York County days later. Northern York County Regional Police arrested Steckbeck at a motel about a week after the East Cocalico Township robbery. Steckbeck is currently being held in York County Prison.
