MOUNTVILLE – A Mountville, Lancaster County, ministry is closing after more than 24 years of helping the community’s most vulnerable neighbors. On their Facebook page, Faith Friendship Ministries announced that they have begun an orderly closure. Executive Director Tammi Morris writes “This decision was not made quickly or lightly. For years, we have fought to sustain this home amid rising costs, increasing regulations, and the chronic under-funding of the PA Personal Care Home Supplement—particularly for homes serving low-income adults with serious and persistent mental illness. The lasting impact of COVID, the very real financial consequences of the sexual abuse crisis, shifting grant priorities, and the recent denial of an expected federal IRS refund have all contributed to bringing Faith Friendship Ministries to this moment. Despite relentless advocacy, fundraising, restructuring, outreach, and prayer, the financial reality has led us to this painful crossroads. Faith Friendship has always been more than a building. It has been home. A place of dignity, belonging, faith, and family for residents who often had nowhere else to turn. Our immediate focus is on caring well for our residents and staff through this transition, raising resources to fund the closure, ensuring safe placement, stability, and dignity every step of the way. That commitment does not change. We are still advocating. We are still praying. And we are still leaving room—intentional room—for God to move. If a real path to preservation emerges, we will pursue it with everything we have. Thank you to every donor, volunteer, church, partner, staff member, and friend who has walked with us over the years. Your love has mattered more than you know. It holds eternal value. Please hold our residents and staff close in your prayers during this tender season.” Faith Friendship Ministries is located at 128 W. Main Street in Mountville.
