LANCASTER – A Lancaster County man pleaded guilty to assaulting several police officers. 65-year-old Thomas Hackman of Mount Joy Township pleaded guilty aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. Hackman threatened, punched, scratched, spit on, and verbally abused three Northwest Regional Police officers who were responding to an incident outside his residence in the 1000 block of Ridge Road during the early morning hours of March 24. The officers suffered cuts, abrasions and swelling as a result of Hackman’s actions. After being arrested Hackman continued to verbally abuse and spit on officers and attempted to kick out the rear windows of a patrol vehicle. Hackman will be sentenced following the conclusion of a 30-day pre-sentence investigation.
