LANCASTER COUNTY – A Lancaster County man is facing third degree murder and other charges in the death of his infant daughter. On February 1 around 5:33 p.m., police and EMS responded to a home in the 100 block of Wecaf Road in New Holland for a reported cardiac arrest involving an infant. Upon arrival, first responders found a female infant unresponsive in a bassinet. EMS immediately initiated life-saving measures. The child was transported to Lancaster General and subsequently flown to Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. Later that evening, 47-year-old David Soudon of New Holland came to police and requested to speak with a detective. During an interview, Soudon made statements admitting to shaking the infant while he was the sole caregiver at the residence, believing that he had killed her. The child later died on February 5th. Souden is incarcerated in Lancaster County Prison.
