HARRISBURG – The PA Turnpike is looking for a good name for their new Super Snow Plow. The vehicle is a massive, 550 horsepower tri-drive truck with three rear axles which can traverse just about any condition. It features two plows with one affixed to the front, while the other flanks the truck with a 21-foot wing plow that crews in the cab can lower and extend on the passenger side. Combined, the front and wing plows can clear a width of 27 feet or two lanes in one pass. The snow plow has been put into action this winter, but Turnpike officials say it needs a name. The public can submit a name at the PA Turnpike’s Facebook page. You can do so by clicking on the plow’s photo below and submitting names under the comments section. Vulgar, offensive, or derogatory language will not be considered. Keep the names to 30 characters or less. Names can not be based on celebrities, public or political figures. Submissions close on Feb. 25. They will pick the finalists for a final round of voting which begins March 4 and lasts through March 11. The name with the most votes will be announced in mid-March.
