LANCASTER – A house fire in Lancaster City has claimed a life. Crews responded around 5:30 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of E. Walnut Street. Severe hoarding conditions inside the home contributed to difficulties in fighting the fire. There were no working smoke detectors found inside. Units found one person in the second floor bathroom of the home. They were taken to Lancaster General Hospital, but died from their injuries. A number of pets also died. One firefighter was treated and released for minor burns. A cause of the fire is under investigation.
