LANCASTER – Saturday afternoon’s Spotlight looks at various pro-life issues for the month of January. On “End Of Life; Who Gets To Choose,” Life Issues Institute President Brad Mattes talks to people impacted by brain death. Dr. Paul Byrne of Life Guardian Foundation says brain death is different from true death. Jenny Hammond was a registered nurse who suffered a seizure and was later declared brain dead. She said she had awake times and sleep times, but was able to hear what was happening around her. Hammond later came out of her coma. The program may change the way you view end-of-life issues — specifically a doctor’s determination of brain death and the surprising realities of organ donation.
