HARRISBURG – The American Lung Association’s 2024 “State of Lung Cancer” Report has been released with the report revealing some positive news for PA. Nationally, the lung cancer survival rate has improved 26% in the last five years and 27% in the Keystone State. The report also presents opportunities for PA to further improve lung cancer survival by increasing access to screening and biomarker testing. The report found that while PA ranked average in the nation for new cases of lung cancer, survival rates, and early diagnosis, it showed improvement in the past five years for all three indicators – 16% improvement for new cases; 27% improvement for survival and 11% improvement for early-stage diagnosis. The report also showed that PA must focus on lung health inequities, adult smoking cessation, and radon testing and mitigation. You can read the full report by clicking on the banner below.
