HARRISBURG – Lancaster County Rep. Mike Sturla is leaving Harrisburg. The Democrat announced he will not seek reelection in the 96th District. Sturla won the primary, but has now decided to step aside to spend more time with his family. Lancaster County Democratic Committee Chairman Tom O’Brien released a statement saying Sturla started his long and successful career in public service at Lancaster City Council before flipping the state House seat in 1990. For nearly 35 years, Mike has worked tirelessly for his constituents. His annual Back-to-School event is a fixture of our community and has provided tens of thousands of Lancaster children with free school supplies, clothes, shoes, haircuts, and more. O’Brien added they will now work to nominate a new candidate before the upcoming deadline.
