LANCASTER – One person died after a weekend fire in Lancaster. Units responded Saturday around 4:40 p.m. to the 600 block of Wyncroft Lane at the Kensington Apartments and found the building ablaze. The blaze eventually escalated to a 2-alarm blaze. Numerous fire crews were called to the scene. The fire damaged units 4 through 8, leaving the building uninhabitable. The fire originated in unit 8. The American Red Cross was on the scene assisting more than 22 displaced residents. A dog and a cat also perished in the blaze. Firefighters returned twice to extinguish hot spots. Damage is estimated at $1.5 million for the building and $250,000 for the contents.
