HARRISBURG – Gov. Tom Wolf is denouncing Rep. Russ Diamond of Lebanon County, an opponent of mask-wearing, for mimicking the words of the state’s health secretary, who is transgender, by appealing for tolerance of the “unmasked community.” Diamond released a nearly word-for-word release of Dr. Rachel Levine’s call for tolerance and acceptance of LGBTQ people. Diamond swapped out her references to “LGBTQ” with “unmasked.” Wolf called it abhorrent, disrespectful, and dangerous and called for Diamond to be censured. Diamond responded by saying Wolf’s pandemic policies contributed to the deaths of over 4,800 Pennsylvanians in nursing homes, while he ignored his own orders while protesting in the streets, and unlawfully withheld federal CARES funding from Lebanon County as political retribution.
