CUMBERLAND COUNTY – Firefighters are making significant progress to contain the two wildfires in Cumberland County at Michaux State Forest. Officials say the Thompson Hollow Fire is at 2,248 acres with 42% containment. The Hammonds Rocks Fire is at 497 acres with 92% containment. Officials say no personal property damage or physical injuries have been reported. All residents who have been evacuated are able to return to their homes. The Thompson Hollow Fire started around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 and the Hammonds Rocks Fire began about 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 24. The cause of these fires is currently under investigation.
