HARRISBURG – The PA Department of Labor & Industry and state Attorney General’s office is urging Pennsylvanians to be vigilant against fraud. With the availability of additional federal unemployment program funding, fraudsters are becoming bolder in their attempts to obtain and use Pennsylvanians’ personal information to steal this money. Both departments report that fraudsters have been stepping up efforts to gather Pennsylvanians’ personal information, including usernames, passwords, unemployment compensation Personal Identification Numbers, and Social Security numbers. The goal of the scammers is to create fraudulent unemployment program claims or log into existing claims and redirect unemployment benefits payments.
