SCHUYLKILL COUNTY – State Police continue their investigation into a bus crash that occurred yesterday afternoon on I-81 in Schuylkill County. Three buses were returning to the LCBC Manheim campus from a fall retreat in New York State. One bus left the road, struck a guide rail and embankment, and came to rest in a wooded area in Frazier Township. All 31 of the freshman and sophomore girls and their leaders on the bus sustained various levels of injury and all but one was transported to five local hospitals. Four were taken by Life Flight to either Hershey Medical Center or Geisinger Hospital in Danville. As of last evening, according to LCBC, two thirds have been released with the other third remaining hospitalized with several in critical condition. The bus driver, 37-year-old Adam Wright of Lancaster is in serious condition according to PSP. The other two buses did return to the campus safely. LCBC is asking for prayer for the healing and comfort of each of the students and their families along with wisdom and skill for the medical teams treating them.
