HARRISBURG – Rep. Natalie Mihalek of Allegheny & Washington Counties has introduced a bill that would elevate the crime of concealing the death of a child from a misdemeanor to a second-degree felony. The bill was borne out of a horrific crime that occurred in Washington County in which two parents hid the body of their 5-month-old son.  When the Washington County District Attorney filed charges, he was shocked to learn that this egregious conduct only supported misdemeanor charges for concealing the death of a child and abuse of a corpse. Mihalek’s House Bill 2276 would change that. The bill is now before the PA House Judiciary Committee.
