HARRISBURG –With more people enjoying the outdoors, now is the time when ticks are on the move causing a greater possibility of tick bites and cases of tick-borne diseases. PA Acting Physician General Dr. Denise Johnson urged everyone to cover exposed areas with light colored, lightweight clothing and make sure you avoid areas where ticks thrive like high grass and dense wooded areas. She added it’s important to use EPA-approved tick repellent and make frequent checks on your body for ticks. This year, Johnson says they are seeing a greater number of tick bites and also Lyme Disease. All counties in the Commonwealth have ticks that carry Lyme Disease.
