LANCASTER – A storm system that began its eastward trek from the Rocky Mountains on Monday will impact our region today. After a round of showers and some wind this morning, Accuweather forecasters are advising us to be aware of the potential for some severe thunderstorms this afternoon, including the threat of damaging winds and the possibility of some hail. It’s the first real thunderstorm system of the year in our area as temperatures slowly warm up. This same storm system has spawned tornadoes in Texas and Oklahoma, blizzards in norther regions, and has produced strong damaging winds across the entire front. While high winds and potential for hail are the extent of the concern in our area, forecasters encourage the public to be weather aware especially as we transition from winter weather into warmer weather storm patterns associated with spring and summer.
