WASHINGTON — Pennsylvania U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick, has joined three bipartisan co-sponsors in introducing legislation that would establish a national commission to assess the United States’ competitiveness in robotics and recommend strategies to strengthen American leadership in the rapidly growing industry.
The National Commission on Robotics Act would create an independent panel tasked with examining the nation’s robotics capabilities and developing policy recommendations related to economic competitiveness, supply chain security, national defense and workforce development.
“Pennsylvania, and Pittsburgh especially, is an incredible hub of robotics talent and demonstrates that American leadership in robotics creates high-paying jobs, strengthens domestic supply chains and drives long-term growth,” McCormick said in a statement.
Under the bill, the commission would be required to submit an interim report to Congress and the president within one year of its creation, followed by a final report containing policy recommendations within two years.
