LANCASTER – A Lancaster City man made a startling find as he cleaned out his garage that had been used by a former tenant. He discovered a suspicious object in a box and promptly called the police to the scene. Lancaster City officers responded at 11:56am and identified what appeared to be a military ordinance. A one-block perimeter was established around the location as roads were closed and residents within the perimeter were evacuated out of an abundance of caution. Once on the scene, the Pennsylvania State Police Bomb Squad and Air Force Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team confirmed that the object was in fact an active military ordinance, and removed the item safely. Once the item was removed, residents were allowed back to their homes and roads reopened around 3:30pm.
