PORT DEPOSIT, MD – Maryland authorities arrested a suspect after a trooper and two deputies from the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office were shot while responding to a burglary. 23-year-old Daniel Donnelly of Elkton is charged with three counts of attempted first and second-degree murder and assault, burglary, and reckless endangerment. All three officers were treated for their injuries. Early Sunday, officers received a call of a burglary at a residence on Twin Lakes Drive in Port Deposit. Four sheriff deputies and one trooper responded and entered the residence. Two of the deputies and the trooper entered the backyard of the property when they were hit by shots fired by Donnelly. He fled into a nearby woods. No shots were fired by the deputies or troopers on the scene. Donnelly was later apprehended.
