HARRISBURG (AP) – A Republican state senator who has talked of possibly running for governor of PA in 2022 says former President Donald Trump asked him months ago to run and promised to campaign for him. Sen. Doug Mastriano of Adams, Cumberland, & York Counties made the comments during a sit-down interview at a Chambersburg radio station while discussing a meeting with Trump in New York City. Mastriano’s statements come just days after Lou Barletta, a former Congressman and Mayor of Hazleton, said he is running for PA governor.
